Cinzia Pezzani and Sergio Grillo, having degrees respectively in economics
and agricultural science, teach in higher education and, for over twenty
years they have devoted themselves to rambling or, to put it better, active
tourism in nature.
With a profound knowledge of Italian territory, they have made a real
and true profession out of what started as a hobby, contributing to many
of the leading magazines in this sector and publishing nature, photographic
and rambling guides.
They can boast hundreds of published articles, some photographic CD-ROMs,
and around twenty guides which collect together just one part of the thousands
of itineraries they themselves have travelled on foot, on mountain bike
and with skis for cross country rambling in all of Italy. Along the routes
they not only identify and describe paths in use but also those which
are now abandoned, above all ancient montanistic connecting roads.
Expert photographers and map makers, they take pains over every detail
of their reports and their guides thus making them even more adherent
to the territory being discussed.
They have collaborated for many years with public authorities and in particular
they are consultants to the Department of Economic Development in the
Tuscany region, for whom they have prepared texts, photos and maps for
some publications on foot and on bicycle.
With their guides they have, in practice, covered all the territory of
Tuscany, emphasising secondary aspects and hidden riches which should
not be missed by the more demanding rambler and cyclist. They have not
even left out the Tuscan winter, proposing a guide on cross country skiing
along the whole of the Apennine chain "Tosco-emiliana". Among
the future "Toscani" commitments it must be noted the preparation
of three volumes on rambling on foot (of which the first with come out
in the Spring of 2000) and the publication of a guide of itineraries by
bicycle around Florence and Prato (previewed to come out in the summer
of 2000).
