Marrobio, Marrubium vulgare

Family of labiateae

This is a small plant which grows on well dry soils, it has a large use in the study of medicinal herbs for its tonic, cardiac-tonic and expectorant properties.

The infusion in red wine represents a good remedy against the lack of appetite and it has digestive effects. The infusion in water represents a remedy against all the bronchial diseases. As it has a bitter flavour it is necessary to add some honey to the infusion. Locally this plant is called herb of Our Lady or herb of fear and it is used for bathing and footbaths.
