Rue, Ruta graveolens

Family of rutaceae

This plant can be found in dry and marly grounds. Its small leaves and the lightly pulpy stems, if rub, exhale an intense scent, which has given the Latin name.

Use
Currently it is used to aromatize grappa. Anciently it was considered an important medical herb and used like anti-inflammatory of lungs and for sciatica and rheumatic complaints. According to an ancient book, the powder of rue mixed with water could cure lunatics.
