Lime-tree, Tilia cordata

Family of tiliaceae

Poggio al Tiglio, a place-name of the Apennines, reminds us the importance of this tree and how it is common in our forests, in the species "tilia cordata".

The dried flowers are used in herbalist shops to prepare decoction which is then used to cure pharyngitis, or in infusion which are emollient and relaxing. Its flowers have an intense scent and they are visited by bees, which then produce a very valuable honey. This product maintains the properties of lime-tree's flowers.
