Yew-tree, Verbascum thapsus

Family of scrofulariaceae

This beautiful plant grows along mountain roads and on uncultivated grounds of the hills. The first year it produces a big head of grey-silver leaves, which are covered by a soft down. The second year it rises a trunk which can be more than one metre high and on which blossom yellow flowers.

Use
These flowers, if picked up and dried, are used for infusions to cure cough and catarrh, and for external use to cure infections and whitlow.
