Fourth, fifth, and sixth day

The hot Amiata mountain

Fourth day

This is dedicated to a visit to Abbadia San Salvatore with its Benedectine Abbey which made history in Southern Tuscany from the VIII to the XII centuries (the architecture a rare example of Germanic Style in Italy is being studied by several German universities). From Abbadia you can go up to Pian della Piscina to Prato della Contessa and then to Prato delle Macinaie. The itinerary then descends toward Castel Del Piano.

Fifth day

A visit to the 17th century building that houses the source of the Flora River is highly recommended. A visit to the wildlife park of Monte Amiata is also recommended where deer mountain goats and wolves live within a great fenced-in area: Through the Park a gently sloping path rises to the top of Monte Labbro where an interesting visit may be made to the chapel and tower that recall the Giurisdavidic community established by Davide Lazzaretti, known as the Prophet of Monte Amiata. After a stop at Roccalbegna on to Saturnia.

Sixth day

A whole day should be spent immersed in the natural waterfall of hot sulfur water at Saturnia. And the experience will be so pleasant that one day will seem only too little. From Saturnia the road rises and descends to Scansano and then to Albinia from where you can return by train.
