The Calvana way

An important city famous mostly for the flourishing textile industry, Prato has in the recent years become an independent province. The territory which falls within its administrative limits is not very big but, from an environmental point of view, it is rich and varied, with some prestigious naturalist areas. Among these are to be noted ; Monte Ferrato, of volcanic origins, the backbone of Monte Javello, the Apennine chain, with the extensive beech woods which drop into the State forest of Acquerino, and the long crest of the Calvana, travelled in the proposed itinerary.
