Filettole

The Calvana way

The tiny centre boasts ancient origins, as archaeological finds prove the existence of human settlements dating from the Bronze age. Its name however is connected to the period of the Byzantine domination, a period in which Filettole took an active role in controlling the roads which rose in the Val Bisenzio. The name, in fact, seems to derive from the Greek vocabulary meaning 'to control'
