Broom bushes

On the Monti Pisani

Where fires have completely destroyed the wood, the ground is colonised by particularly rustic herbaceous plants and bushes. Of these, broom in particular (above all that of the charcoal burners) deserves pointing out, together with prickly broom, with its typically prickly needle-sharp leaves. Descending from Prato Arreto in spring is like going into a "yellow sea" formed by the colour of the flowers of this plant and given that it is so widespread on the arid slopes of these mountains.
