Casa di Dante

The building in the small Piazza Santa Margherita that is today called Dante's house is nothing other than an arbitrary reconstruction, carried out around 1900, of one of the houses belonging to the Alighieri family. It is, however, thought that one of the houses facing onto this piazza was the birthplace of Dante. The Casa di Dante houses the Museo di Dante, which includes a rich collection of various editions of The Divine Comedy and extensive geographic documentation of Dante's Firenze.
