Bellosguardo

Bellosguardo, one of the most beautiful of the hills around Firenze, can be reached by taking the gently-ascending road of the same name. The narrow road is flanked by ivy-lined stone walls.
About halfway up the hill there is an interesting tabernacle depicting a Madonna with Child, which was erected upon the wishes of Grand Duke Leopoldo II. This is the spot where he and his two children miraculously escaped unhurt when the carriage in which they were travelling overturned.
