The municipal territory of Lamporecchio extends for 22,17 square kilometres in the hills and plains of the western slopes of Monte Albano to the marshes of Fucecchio. Inhabited since the Roman era, it has its origins as an ancient feudal; it became incorporated in 1774 to the community and Podesta office of Serravalle, detaching itself in 1810 to unite with the district of Larciano. It reached its present day aspect in 1897 when Larciano became autonomous municipality.

Lamporecchio, which developed along the stretch of road which reaches Pistoia from the Valdarno Inferiore across Monte Albano, from XI to XIII century was feudal to the Bishops of Pistoia who saw their privileges confirmed by the Imperial Certificates of Federico I (1155), Arrigo VI (1196) and Ottone IV (1209); but already in 1224 after lively disputes, the municipality of Pistoia had its political jurisdiction over Lamporecchio recognised. During the war between Pistoia, Lucca and Firenze (1306-1328) Lamporecchio passed alternatively between them until Firenze after having conceded it to Pistoia in 1329, decided to annex it definitely to its county in 1351. The poet Francesco Berni (1497-1535) was born at Lamporecchio.
