his
palace of 14th century origin, which was restored at the beginning
of the 20th century, is commonly called the Palagio di Parte
Guelfa.
The restoration was carried out using old stone saved from the
19th century demolition of the Mercato Vecchio.
Of artistic interest inside, there is the Sala dell'Udienza
(or Sala dei Capitani) dating back to the beginning of the 15th
century, and the Salone del Brunelleschi, which was subsequently
altered by Vasari. Above one of the doors there is a Madonna
with Child by Luca della Robbia, which came from the demolished
church of San Pier Buonconsiglio. |
