I had dreamed for a long time of a change to bring to Florence and to my fellow citizens these "documents" from my long carrer as set-designer. This side of my activity is often seen as secondary to my better-know work as director. But goes back to my youthful years of hopes and dreams, hopes and dreams that had the perfect cradle in my city and that kindled the first sparks. This exhibition is of course a show of my set designs, covering half a century's work, but I am happy because it is also intended as a homage to the genius of three Florentines who accompained me on the long journey: Anna Anni, Piero Tosi and Danilo Donati, who are rightly considered the greatest costumer-designer of the century. Three children of the city who took their first step side by side, right here at the Porta Romana Art School, in those blessed years when talent bloomed like daisies in the fields.
