a tempo sognavo che mi fosse offerta l'opportunità di portare a Firenze, all'attenzione dei miei concittadini, questi documenti della mia lunga esperienza di scenografo, che è spesso considerata sussidiaria rispetto alla mia attività più nota di regista, un versante del mio lavoro che risale agli anni verdi delle speranze e dei sogni che ebbero nella mia città il loro nido ideale e fecero brillare le prime scintille.

uesta mostra è si l'esposizione delle mie scenografie, attraverso l'arco di mezzo secolo, ma mi è cara anche perché vuole essere un omaggio al genio di tre Fiorentini che mi hanno accompagnato nel lungo percorso, Anna Anni, Piero Tosi, e Danilo Donati, che tutto il mondo considera, ben a ragione, i più grandi costumisti del secolo.
Tre figli di questa nostra città che si trovarono a fare i primi passi, gomito a gomito, proprio qui, alla Scuola d'Arte di Porta Romana, in quegli anni benedetti in cui il talento fioriva come margherite sui prati.

I had dreamed for a long time of a change to bring to Florence and to my fellow citizens these "documents" from my long carrer as set-designer. This side of my activity is often seen as secondary to my better-know work as director. But goes back to my youthful years of hopes and dreams, hopes and dreams that had the perfect cradle in my city and that kindled the first sparks.

This exhibition is of course a show of my set designs, covering half a century's work, but I am happy because it is also intended as a homage to the genius of three Florentines who accompained me on the long journey: Anna Anni, Piero Tosi and Danilo Donati, who are rightly considered the greatest costumer-designer of the century. Three children of the city who took their first step side by side, right here at the Porta Romana Art School, in those blessed years when talent bloomed like daisies in the fields.
