"L'insalata non è bella se non c'è la salvastrella". This herb has an ancient fame to be an antihaemorragic, from which it derives its Latin names which means absorbing blood, furthermore it is famous for being a tasty salad. This small plant grows in meadows and along the sides of country roads, and it prefers dry places.

It is a diuretic and refreshing herb and it represents one of the main ingredient for Spring salads. People believed it had magic powers, its root, if brought near the skin, could preserve from plague.
