Family of papaveraceae
Cornfields with poppies are less frequent today and maybe one day we
should admire this impressive picture only in paintings of "Impressionists".
Progress has favoured the profitability of corn but not the landscape
and its true life. May and June are months whose days are the longest
in the year and sun is brighter than other months, so that poppies flower
during this period and they flood with their red petals meadows like a
river of thousands red flags.
|
Use
The petals, dried carefully in shady places, are used for infusions
to relax and favour sleep, they soothe cough and favour expectoration.
The young flower can be used to prepare salads or vegetable soups |
